Applications are invited for the MBBS/BDS program of Kathmandu University.
Eligibility Criteria
1. Completed 17 years of age by 31 July 2010.
2. Completed 10+2 years of education or Intermediate of Science or equivalent examination (e.g. GCSE A level courses comprising Biology, Chemistry and Physics and an AS/O level course in English with at least C standing in each subject) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English, as main subjects and having secured not less than 50% marks in the subjects mentioned above put together and an overall aggregate of 50%.
OR
Completed Bachelor of Science Degree, recognized by the University, with one of the following subjects viz. Physics, Chemistry, Biology and at least one other prescribed science subject of study up to the ancillary level and having scored not less than an overall aggregate of 50% marks, provided that such candidate shall have passed the earlier qualifying examination (10+2 or an equivalent examination) with the subjects of Biology, Physics and Chemistry.
Or,
Completed requisite course equivalent to I. Sc. (Biological Group) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English, as main subjects after Certificate Level in Health Sciences from Dhulikhel Medical Institute, Kathmandu University and having secured not less than 50% marks in the subjects mentioned above put together and an overall aggregate of 50%,.
Application Form Submission Process and Deadline
The applicant must download the application form from www.ku.edu.np or www.dhulikhelhospital.org and completed application form along with the photocopies of the mark sheet of S.L.C. and transcript of 10+2 or equivalent examinations, character certificate, citizenship certificate and bank voucher worth NRs.3,000/- (non-refundable) of Nepal Investment Bank, deposited in the name of KUSMS Saving Account Number: 005 8261140 (cash is not acceptable) submit to the Dean's office, School of Medical Sciences, Dhulikhel Hospital, Dhulikhel during office days from 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM on or before August 29, 2010. Deposit can be made through any branches of Nepal Investment Bank.
Entrance Test: Date, Time and Venue
Entrance Test: September 4, 2010 Saturday
Time: 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.
Venue: as indicated in the Admit Card
Admit Card issue date: September 2nd and 3rd, 2010 (During 10:00 AM to 2:30)
The Curriculum
Entrance Examination for MBBS/BDS will be conducted as per the curriculum for MBBS/BDS Entrance Examination published by the Ministry of Education. Copy of the curriculum along with the model questions is printed, published and marketed by Janak Education Materials Centre Ltd., Sanothimi, Bhaktapur.
Modality of Admission
Applicant who have successfully passed KUMET and meet the above mentioned eligibility criteria can apply in any one of the medical/dental institutions affiliated under Kathmandu University.
Admission will be made on the basis of performance in the Entrance Test followed by interview. Interview will be done by the concerned institution.
The KUMET 2010 will be valid for academic session 2010 August and 2011 February.
Note: Those candidates whose form is rejected will not be issued the admit card for examination. NRs. Rs. 2500 entrance examination fee will be refunded to them.

2010 August Session
Candidates who passed the Entrance Examination held on March 2, 2010 for MD/MS program and seeking admission in Nepal or India for the Academic Session 2010 August for the following subjects are informed to apply at Dean's Office, School of Medical Sciences, Dhulikhel Hospital, Dhulikhel between 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on or before 15 August 2010
To take admission in Clinical Science subjects in India, the candidate should be eligible for registration with the Medical Council of India.
Seats not filled by Nepali candidates will be awarded to the foreign candidates.

P.S. This is also to inform that MDS program in India could not be conducted in spite of our efforts due to some technical problems. The examination fee of the candidates who sat for the entrance examination conducted by KU on 6 February 2009 will be refunded. They are requested to contact Dean's office with the original admit card/ bank voucher on or before 22 August 2010 between 10 am to 2 pm for refund. We regret for the inconveniences caused by this situation.
