“Translational Research Capacity Building Initiative to address Cardiovascular Diseases in Nepal” : a training grant from the US National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), USA, is a four-year (September 2017-August 2021) project which is jointly hosted by KUSMS and DH-KUH. The project aims to build national capacity to lead translational research in cardiovascular disease (CVD) by creating and training a multi-sectoral, multi-disciplinary team; building partnerships with US universities (University of Washington, University of Wisconsin, Harvard University) and regional institutions (Public Health Foundation of India, Sun-Yat- Sen University); systematically assessing national needs; and developing an actionable translational research plan. On 2nd April 2018, CVD Translational Research Project formally started with trainee orientation program. Total 15 trainee (10- onsite and 5 - webinar) participated in the orientation program organized by DH-KUH at old conference hall. Both national (Dr. Rajendra Koju, Dr. Biraj, Dr. Archana, Dr. Prajwal, Dr. Abhinav, Dr. Natalia) as well as international project team (Dr. Annette, Dr. Brad and Dr. Donna) participated in the orientation program. The major aim of the orientation program was to orient trainee about the overall program and interaction with each other.
