Introduction
Kathmandu University, School of Medical Sciences (KUSMS) is an autonomous, independent academic institution established in collaboration between Kathmandu University and Dhulikhel Hospital.
KUSMS launched its own constituent MBBS program in August 2001. The school has infrastructure and physical facilities at two locations: Basic sciences building at a hilltop at Chaukot, Panauti Municipality-1 and the main teaching hospital is situated at Dhulikhel. Both locations are in close access to the Kathmandu University Complex. Basic Sciences department has 7 various departments with required number of laboratories, lecture halls (including PBL class rooms), audio visual facilities (media tech), and library with 24 hour internet facility.
Besides Dhulikhel Hospital, B&B Hospital and Scheer Memorial Hospital, Banepa are also being used for clinical teaching. There are 14 various clinical departments. Twelve different outreach centers are being used for community based training and field visits Compulsory hostel facilities are provided for the students.
KUSMS took over the responsibility to continue B Sc Human Biology Program (4 years) in association with School of Science, Kathmandu University from this year.
KUSMS has also been running different Certificate in health science programmes under Dhulikhel Medical Institute (DMI) since 1998.

- Annually intake of constituent MBBS program is increased to 60 from 45
- B Sc Human Biology Program (4 years) started in association with School of Science
- Post graduate course in clinical sciences (MD/MS) are extended in different subjects at KUSMS affiliated colleges of Nepal
- 12 medical/Nursing faculties joined in their departments after completion their course of Faculty Development Program and 7 sent for study under Faculty Development Program
- 14 students of first batch of B.Sc. Nursing pass out from their course

- To start BDS programme at Dhulikhel Hospital-KUTH
Entry Requirement:
Admission to the medical course:
To be eligible for selection to the undergraduate medical course, a candidate should have:
- Completed 17 years of age, and
-
Completed 10+2 years of education or Intermediate of Science (I.Sc.)
or equivalent, with Biology, Chemistry and Physics as main subjects and
he/she should have secured not less than 50% of marks in the subjects
mentioned above put together and aggregate of 50% overall.
OR
-
Completed Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree recognized by the University
with one of the following subjects viz. Physics, Chemistry, Biology and
at least one other prescribed science subject of study up to the ancillary
level and he/she should have scored not less than aggregate of 50% marks;
provided that such candidate shall have passed the earlier qualifying
examination (10+2, I.Sc. or an equivalent examination) with the subjects
Biology, Chemistry, Physics and English.
