INTRODUCTION
According to demand of Health Care System of the country, Certificate in health science (nursing) program was launched at Dhulikhel Medical Institute with 9 students in 1998. Since 2000 student intake has increased to 40.
Similarly in 2004, Kathmandu University, School of Medical Sciences launched the B Sc in Nursing program with 15 students. Since 2006, the student intake has increased to 20.
Aim
To prepare competent, skilled and compassionate nurses as care provider, nurse administrator/leader, educator and researcher who can function independently or in collaboration with multidisciplinary health team members in the care of individual, family, group and community.
Objectives
The main objective is to increase the annual Certificate and Bachelor Levels nursing manpower production in Nepal which will contribute to adequate staffing of nursing position in bedside nursing care as well as in fulfilling the shortage of nursing educators in academic.

Entry Requirement:
To be eligible for selection to the B.Sc nursing course, a candidate should have:
- Completed 17 years of age on or before the date of commencement of the course.
- Completed Intermediate of science or 10+2 or equivalent with English, Mathematics and Science (Chemistry, Physics, Biology) and should have secured an aggregate of 50% or more marks in the subjects mentioned above put together and aggregate of 50% overall.
B.Sc. Nursing:
The academic prerequisite for eligibility to baccalaureate in nursing (B.Sc. N) is intermediate of science or 10 + 2 (Science) or equivalent with English, Math and Sciences securing at least 50% in aggregate.
Scholarships
Limited scholarships are available for the needy students. Beside limited scholarship schemes, there is provision for Educational Loan scheme too.
Awards
Awards are awarded to excelling students on the basis of their academic merit in each course and also to those who show excellent performance in Extra Curricular Activities.
